The Road to Connamara: songs and stories in the old style

By Dusty Keleher

Originally featured in the 2018 Halifax Fringe Festival, in Plan B (now a scooter and power chair shop).

A table, a chair, a drink, a guitar on a stand. The storyteller sings songs in the old style, or sean nós, a type of traditional folksinging from Ireland. Stories are woven around the songs or stand alone in their own light. As Joe Heaney, the great sean nós singer from Carna, County Galway would say, “It’s music unaccompanied that doesn’t necessarily have a beat, but it has a pulse.”

Podcast recording on Bandcamp! All podcast shows launch on September 4th. Bandcamp waives their revenue on September 4 to help support artists during COVID-19. We encourage you to check out these celebrations of Fringe Festivals past knowing that your purchase goes directly to the artists.
